DIETARY GUIDLINES

Bible Miracles: Dietary Guidelines

More than three thousand five hundred years ago Bible has given such commandments regarding dietary laws that now we at this age of modern science come to know that they are beneficial for human health and all commandments and restrictions have nothing to do with God but for our own benefit. This shows that the Bible correctly told us many facts and hundreds of new discoveries verify its accuracy. Summarized below please find Bible dietary laws and their benefits.

DEAD ANIMAL

Bible tells in the book of Exodus chapter 22 verse 31 that

Exodus 22:31: “You are to be my holy people. So do not eat the meat of an animal torn by wild beasts; throw it to the dogs.  NIV

Here God made provision for Israel by banning the eating of meat that may be spoiled by bacteria as now we know that dead animals contain high quantities of bacteria.

FAT INTAKE

Bible tells in the book of Leviticus chapter 7 verse 22-24 that

Leviticus 7:22–24: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘You shall not eat any fat, of ox or sheep or goat. And the fat of an animal that dies naturally, and the fat of what is torn by wild beasts, may be used in any other way; but you shall by no means eat it. NKJV

The American Heart Association says that Saturated fats, trans fats, and dietary cholesterol raise blood cholesterol. A high level of cholesterol in the blood is a significant risk factor for coronary heart disease, which leads to a heart attack.

In reference to prostate cancer, a study by the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center stated, “The fourth most common cause of cancer among men may be related to saturated fat consumption.”

PORK

Bible tells in the book of Leviticus chapter 11 verse 7-8 that

Leviticus 11:7-8: And the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. 8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you. NKJV

Now, centuries later, we are starting to discover that the eating of pork can cause vital health problems. The relationship between cirrhosis mortality and the product of both alcohol and pork consumption was highly significant. In regions with low alcohol usage, no association was obtained between alcohol consumption and cirrhosis. However, a significant relationship was obtained between cirrhosis and pork. And that is not all. There are remarkably strong correlations between pork consumption and liver disease, liver cancer, and multiple sclerosis.

SHELLFISH

Bible tells in the book of Leviticus chapter 11 verse 9-12 that

Leviticus 11:9-12: These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat.  But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are [d]an abomination to you. They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination. Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that shall be an abomination to you.  NKJV

Bible instructs us to avoid those sea creatures which do not have fins or scales. We now know that bottom feeders tend to consume waste and are more likely to carry disease. Shellfish collect and accumulate bacteria and virus to levels in their bodies much higher than in the surrounding water. They also gather and assimilate metallic and organic compounds. Shellfish such as oysters, clams, and mussels are filter feeders and ingest norovirus if it is present in the water. Through filter feeding, oysters may concentrate the virus to much higher levels than might be found in the surrounding water.
