(4:163)

وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَارُونَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ

Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].

(6:86)

وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا وَكُلًّا فَضَّلْنَا عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot – and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.

(10:98)

فَلَوْلَا كَانَتْ قَرْيَةٌ آمَنَتْ فَنَفَعَهَا إِيمَانُهَا إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ

Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment for a time.

(37:139)

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

(To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren: We chose them, and we guided them to a straight way (6: 87)

When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, (37:140)

He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: (37: 141)

Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. (37: 142)

Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, (37: 143)

He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. (37: 144)

But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, (37: 145)

And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. (37: 146)

And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. (37: 147)

And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. (37: 148)

And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the deptHs of darkness, “There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!” (21: 87)

So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith. (21: 88)

So wait with patience for the Command of thy Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish,- when he cried out in agony. (68:48)

Had not Grace from his Lord reached him, he would indeed have been cast off on the naked shore, in disgrace. (68:49)

Thus did his Lord choose him and make him of the Company of the Righteous. (68:50)

A Synthesis of Religions: The Case of God

Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all realms, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the One who shaped the human being from clay and breathed into him of His Spirit; the One who sent Messengers, one after another, bearing truth, guidance, and the balance, so that mankind may stand upon justice and not transgress its bounds.

Here is a discourse meant not to conquer but to illuminate,
Not to divide but to gather,
Not to exalt the writer but to exalt the Word of God. So approach with hearts unburdened,
 With intellects awakened,
With spirits yearning for the Mercy of the All-Merciful. For the earth endures by His command,
 And knowledge is a trust,
And every soul shall be returned to its Lord.

The Last Dialogue (thelastdialogue.org) recognized as a pivotal resource in comparative theology. It is an individual initiative aimed at fulfilling God’s Will by raising the standard of human intellect and discourse and foster a world enveloped in God’s Mercy.
