وَٱلذَّٰرِيَـٰتِ ذَرْوًۭا
Wadh-dhariyati dharwa
By those [winds] scattering [
dust] dispersing
51:1
Noun
وَٱلذَّٰرِيَـٰتِ
By those scattering
wal-dhāriyāti

ذَرْوًۭا
dispersing
dharwan
فَٱلْحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ وِقْرًۭا
Fal-ḥamilati wiqra
And those [
clouds] carrying a load [of water]
51:2
Noun
فَٱلْحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ
And those carrying
fal-ḥāmilāti
Noun
وِقْرًۭا
a load
wiq'ran
فَٱلْجَـٰرِيَـٰتِ يُسْرًۭا
Fal-jariyati yusra
And those [ships] sailing with ease
51:3
Noun
فَٱلْجَـٰرِيَـٰتِ
And those sailing
fal-jāriyāti
Noun
يُسْرًۭا
(with) ease
yus'ran
فَٱلْمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ أَمْرًا
Fal-muqassimati amra
And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter,
51:4
Noun
فَٱلْمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ
And those distributing
fal-muqasimāti
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌۭ
Innama tu'aduna laṣadiq
Indeed, what you are promised is true.
51:5

إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍۢ مُّخْتَلِفٍۢ
Innakum lafi qawlin mukhtalif
Indeed, you are in differing speech.
51:8

51:9

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍۢ سَاهُونَ
Alladhina hum fi ghamratin sahun
Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless.
51:11

They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?"
51:12

ذُوقُوا۟ فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
Dhuqu fitnatakum hadha alladhi kuntum bihi tasta'jilun
[And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient."
51:14

Inna al-muttaqina fi jannatin wa'uyun
Indeed, the
righteous will be among gardens and springs,
51:15

Akhidhina ma atahum rabbuhum innahum kanu qabla dhalika muḥsinin
Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
51:16

51:17

And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived.
51:19

لِّلسَّآئِلِ
(of) those who asked

وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ

Wafi al-arḍi ayatun lilmuqinin
And on the
earth are signs for the certain [in faith]
51:20

لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ
for those who are certain
lil'mūqinīna
وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

And in yourselves. Then will you not see?
51:21

And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised.
51:22

Fawarabbi as-sama'i wal-arḍi innahu laḥaqqun mithla ma annakum tanṭiqun
Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking.
51:23

51:24

When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown."
51:25

51:27

Fa-awjasa minhum khifatan qalu la takhaf wabashsharuhu bighulamin 'alim
And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy.
51:28

Fa-aqbalati imra-atuhu fi ṣarratin faṣakkat wajhaha waqalat 'ajuzun 'aqim
And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!"
51:29

Qalu kadhaliki qala rabbuki innahu huwa al-ḥakimu al-'alim
They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing."
51:30

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"
51:31

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of

So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers.
51:35

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
Fama wajadna fiha ghayra baytin mina al-muslimin
And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims.
51:36

Watarakna fiha ayatan lilladhina yakhafuna al-'adhaba al-alim
And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
51:37

Wafi Musa idh arsalnahu ila Fir'awna bisulṭanin mubin
And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to
Pharaoh with clear authority.
51:38

بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢ

فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌۭ
Fatawalla biruknihi waqala saḥirun aw majnun
But he turned away with his supporters and said, "A magician or a madman."
51:39

وَقَالَ

سَـٰحِرٌ
A magician

a madman

فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ
Fa-akhadhnahu wajunudahu fanabadhnahum fi al-yammi wahuwa mulim
So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the
sea, and he was blameworthy.
51:40
Verb
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ
So We took him
fa-akhadhnāhu

وَجُنُودَهُۥ
and his hosts
wajunūdahu

فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ
and threw them
fanabadhnāhum

مُلِيمٌۭ
(was) blameworthy
mulīmun
وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ
Wafi 'Adin idh arsalna 'alayhimu ar-riḥa al-'aqim
And in '
Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren
wind.
51:41

l-ʿaqīma
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
Ma tadharu min shay'in atat 'alayhi illa ja'alathu kar-ramim
It left
nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins.
51:42

كَٱلرَّمِيمِ
like disintegrated ruins
kal-ramīmi
وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ
Wafi Thamuda idh qila lahum tamatta'u ḥatta ḥin
And in
Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time."
51:43

Enjoy (yourselves)

فَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
Fa'ataw 'an amri rabbihim fa-akhadhathumu aṣ-ṣa'iqatu wahum yanẓurun
But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.
51:44
Verb
فَعَتَوْا۟
But they rebelled

(of) their Lord

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
so seized them

وَهُمْ
while they

يَنظُرُونَ
were looking
yanẓurūna
فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍۢ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ
Fama istaṭa'u min qiyamin wama kanu muntaṣirin
And they were unable to arise, nor could they help themselves.
51:45

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍۢ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۭا فَـٰسِقِينَ
Waqawma Nuḥin min qablu innahum kanu qawman fasiqin
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.
51:46

And (the) people

فَـٰسِقِينَ
defiantly disobedient
fāsiqīna
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَـٰهَا بِأَيْي۟دٍۢ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ
Was-sama'a banaynaha bi-aydin wa-inna lamusi'un
And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.
51:47

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ
And the heaven

بَنَيْنَـٰهَا
We constructed it

بِأَيْي۟دٍۢ
with strength

وَإِنَّا
and indeed, We

(are) surely (its) Expanders
lamūsiʿūna
وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَـٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَـٰهِدُونَ
Wal-arḍa farashnaha fani'ma al-mahidun
And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.
51:48

وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Wamin kulli shay'in khalaqna zawjayni la'allakum tadhakkarun
And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will remember.
51:49

So flee to Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
51:50

And do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
51:51

Kadhalika ma ata alladhina min qablihim min rasulin illa qalu saḥirun aw majnun
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
51:52

Did they suggest it to them? Rather, they are a transgressing people.
51:53

Fatawalla 'anhum fama anta bimalum
So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed.
51:54

Wadhakkir fa-inna ad-dhikra tanfa'u al-mu'minin
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
51:55

Wama khalaqtu al-jinna wal-insa illa liya'budun
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
51:56

لِيَعْبُدُونِ

Ma uridu minhum min rizqin wama uridu an yuṭ'imun
I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.
51:57

yuṭ'ʿimūni

Inna Allaha huwa ar-razzaqu dhu al-quwwati al-matin
Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.
51:58

فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبًۭا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
Fa-inna lilladhina ẓalamu dhanuban mithla dhanubi aṣḥabihim fala yasta'jilun
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [of old], so let them not ask Me to hasten [it].
51:59

Fawaylun lilladhina kafaru min yawmihimu alladhi yu'adun
Then woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.
51:60
