EXODUS SUMMARY

Exodus means exit, departure or a going out. It gives a record of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt which signified the end of a period of oppression for Abraham’s offsprings and the commencement of the fulfillment of the covenant promised to Abraham. It records the tremendous numerical growth of Jacob’s family in Egypt which grew into a vast nation, filling the land of Goshen. So the Egyptians made slaves of the Israelites. Out of the family of Levi, who is one of Jacob son’s Moses born at a time when the Pharoah had tried to kill all Israeli babies. Moses was raised by Pharaoh’s daughter. It records various experiences of Moses life which ultimately lead to Israelites freedom from Pharoah. After this, the Israelites are given the Law at Mount Sinai the most important of which are the Ten Commandments. The book of Exodus ends with a description of the order of worship which centers around the Law of Moses.

CHAPTER WISE SUMMARY:

Chapter#1 The Israelites, after Joseph’s death, increase in Egypt. Pharaoh tries to halt the growth of the Israelites. Pharaoh Tells The Midwives To Kill All Hebrew.
