JOHN-1 SUMMARY

The author of this Book is John son of Zebedee. The apostle of Jesus and the author of the Gospel of John and the book of Revelation. He was a first Cousin of Jesus. The letter is difficult to date with certainty but is likely written around 85-95 AD. John was mostly in Ephesus and this letter was most probably corresponded to the churches around Asia Minor. John cites no addressee and includes no special greetings that normally are found in first century letters. However, John frequently refers to “my dear children” suggesting that he is addressing to first or second generation Christians. This letter was written to a community who faced heresy. John teaches how to step in the light and also to keep in remembrance the sacrifice which the Lord Jesus Christ made for them. False teachers were trying to mislead the first-century Christians by denying many things including the true humanity of Jesus Christ. The view that Jesus was not truly human was a belief of false teachers called Gnostics. Gnosticism is a philosophy which states that matter is evil and spirit is good. While the Gospel of John was composed to establish that Jesus was God, John-1 was written to confirm Jesus was a real human too. And also to ascertain believers of Salvation in Christ.

A Synthesis of Religions: The Case of God

Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all realms, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the One who shaped the human being from clay and breathed into him of His Spirit; the One who sent Messengers, one after another, bearing truth, guidance, and the balance, so that mankind may stand upon justice and not transgress its bounds.

Here is a discourse meant not to conquer but to illuminate,
Not to divide but to gather,
Not to exalt the writer but to exalt the Word of God. So approach with hearts unburdened,
 With intellects awakened,
With spirits yearning for the Mercy of the All-Merciful. For the earth endures by His command,
 And knowledge is a trust,
And every soul shall be returned to its Lord.
